Skyward Bound: Advanced Aerial Mobility in Ireland

Styalized cover of FMCI's "Skyward Bound" report. The cover features an image of a white electric aircraft flying in front of the Cliffs of Moher. It is BETA Technologies' ALIA CTOL aircraft. On the left side of the image, a colored strip runs doan the side. In the top left corner, the paper's title, "Skyward Bound," appears in white block lettering.

A case study, a roadmap, a call to action—this is Skyward Bound: Advanced Aerial Mobility in Ireland.

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) has been a developing industry for years, reminiscent of sci-fi fuelled dreams of flying cars and the air travel of tomorrow. But with innovative aircraft and developments in battery technologies, air traffic control systems, airspace regulations, and more, that future is crystallising with every passing day—one where we move through the skies in cleaner, safer, more efficient, and more accessible ways.

Always at the front of aerial innovation, Ireland is once again poised to lead in the development and integration of AAM. The county’s longstanding role as a pioneer of aviation, existing foundations in air mobility, and geographic attributes paired with eager innovators, a robust R&D ecosystem, and supportive governing and regulatory bodies make it the perfect environment for shaping this new chapter of air mobility. But to cement its position as an AAM trailblazer, Ireland must act now.

Skyward Bound proposes a roadmap to make Ireland the AAM global leader it is poised to become. Read the report below, or find a PDF version here.
